Mileos® is the reference decision support tool in France to manage the risk of potato powdery mildew (Phytophthora infestans) developed by ARVALIS - Institut du végétal. By combining two tools (Mildi-LIS and MilPV), OAD Mileos® benefits from 10 years of research and continuous improvement. In 2018, more than 5,000 plots of land on Mileos® in France were followed by 1,500 users. The tool is available on the web and as a mobile application to help farmers manage late blight risks. The epidemiological model Mileos® is divided into 4 segments: contamination and survival of spores in the environment, which can either germinate or contaminate, survive or die; incubation and possible sporulation of each contaminant; modelling of real sporulation; spore dispersal.
The quality of a model depends on the input data, namely, the weather data. For the recommendations of the OAD Mileos® to be relevant, growers must therefore have access to reliable, accurate and real-time weather data. For this, it is important that their weather station is: installed by March 1st, positioned in good conditions at the edge of the crop, equipped with a recalibrated hygrometry probe, To best prevent the risk of fungal contamination, the user must note his irrigation applications, his observations of late blight on his plot, the treatments carried out and also the development stages of the crop.
