Description

Genie® II is a sophisticated instrument that enables the sensitive detection of bacteria and viruses at a molecular level. This powerful and extremely flexible platform allows isothermal amplification of DNA and RNA to take place in a compact device designed to run any isothermal amplification method that employs target detection by fluorescence measurement.  In trials the Genie® II proved to be a very easy-to-use, robust, portable instrument; invaluable for use in the field.

Mode of operation

A mark II version was launched in the middle of 2014 that features improved detection sensitivity, more powerful computing capabilities and the ability to host USB peripheral devices such as printers and barcode readers. It is a compact and portable instrument that supports any isothermal DNA / RNA amplification method. The key operational attributes are precise thermal control supported by highly-sensitive fluorescence measurements made in real-time. It runs stand-alone without the need for a computer and is operated from a simple user interface from a large touchscreen display. This extremely powerful and flexible platform includes two independent heating blocks, each taking an 8-microtube strip that has been optimised for efficient thermal transfer and sensitive fluorescence measurement.

Accuracy

Very accurate detection rate above 99%.
